Improved final doublet designs for the ILC baseline small crossing angle scheme
نویسندگان
چکیده
The ILC baseline consists of two interaction regions, one with a 20mrad crossing angle and the other with a 2mrad crossing angle. It is known that the outgoing beam losses in the final doublet and subsequent extraction line are larger in the 2mrad than in the 20mrad layout. In this work, we exploit NbTi and Nb3Sn superconducting magnet technologies to redesign and optimise the final doublet, with the aim of providing satisfactory outgoing disrupted beam power losses in this region. We present three new final doublet layouts, specifically optimised for the 500 GeV and the 1 TeV machines. New final doublets and power densities for the ILC small crossing angle layout
In this paper we use current and proposed final doublet magnet technologies to reoptimise the interaction region of the International Linear Collider and reduce the power losses. The result is a set of three new final doublet layouts with improved beam transport properties. The effect of localised power deposition is considered, and its reduction using Tungsten liners.
متن کاملThe 2mrad horizontal crossing angle IR layout for a TeV ILC
In this article, we describe the recent development of the 2mrad horizontal crossing angle scheme for the ILC. To date, two parallel designs have emerged: the first coming from the UK and France and the second from SLAC and BNL. We shall describe both schemes here, although they share many common features and are now being developed in parallel under the unified SLAC-BNL-UK-France task force co...
متن کاملThe Layout of the photon collider at the ILC ∗
One of the interaction regions at the linear colliders should be compatible both with e + e − and γγ,γe modes of operation. In this paper, the differences in requirements and possible design solutions are discussed. The photon collider (γγ, γe) is being considered as an " option " in the International Linear Collider (ILC) project [1–3], while e + e − collisions are " baseline ". In reality, th...
متن کاملThe Impact of BeamCal Performance at Different ILC Beam Parameters and Crossing Angles on τ̃ searches
The ILC accelerator parameters and detector concepts are still under discussion in the worldwide community. As will be shown, the performance of the BeamCal, the calorimeter in the very forward area of the ILC detector, is very sensitive to the beam parameter and crossing angle choices. We propose here BeamCal designs for a small (0 or 2 mrad) and large (20 mrad) crossing angles and report abou...
متن کاملDesign of the ILC Crab Cavity System
The International Linear Collider (ILC) has a 14 mrad crossing angle in order to aid extraction of spent bunches. As a result of the bunch shape at the interaction point, this crossing angle at the collision causes a large luminosity loss which can be recovered by rotating the bunches prior to collision using a crab cavity. The ILC baseline crab cavity is a 9-cell superconducting dipole cavity ...
